Re: Ecthelion II's Song Collection

Well, I guess it's time to give you guys a heads-up of what's going on, as much of the stuff in my previous post has become rather irrelevant. :asd:

I know that in my previous post I said I had finished We Are All Wanderers, but that's no longer the case. I have gotten a lot of knowledge in the past month and have decided to go back and drastically improve all the songs on the album. I'll also add more songs as I go, so expect more minutes of music! :P

However, a side effect of me learning a bunch of music stuff is that I realize how bad it was when I didn't. It is for this reason that I took Fourteen Years Per Second and A Walk through the Void off of my bandcamp. The quality of those albums were pretty terrible, so I decided that it was in my best interest to remove them.

The redone version of We Are All Wanderers will be out in a few months, hopefully before Halloween, maybe? We'll see. I'm not quite sure yet, as I don't exactly know how much work I'm going to need to put into it. But I will try to upload any new music to my Youtube channel as I go. I've already started work on improving three of my old songs (Ignotia, Kryos & Aquius) and have begun one (or maybe two) new songs.

(woah, I just realized you can resize the quick reply box by clicking and dragging the two grey lines in the bottom right corner! Awesome! :D )

So, I thought I'd fill you in on what's going on, and be sure to tell me what you think of my music.

Thanks guys! :)

Well, I'm (sort of) back, I suppose!

New music is up - I've completely abandoned all my old music (except Aquius) and started "We Are All Wanderers" from scratch. Decided to take a more ambient route. ;)

Listen to my two new songs, Aquius and Aquia:

Right now I'm working on "Aquium". Don't worry, it will be the end of that... :asd:

So... keep your eyes out for more music and follow that soundcloud please! :D

I wanted all my random stuff in one and my "official" music in another. Also, soundcloud limits you to 2hrs which it's very much. :P

But thanks! I'm glad you like it. :)

No - the limit is on uploading time. So I can only upload 2hrs worth of music, unless I buy a pro account (which I likely won't). :)

95% of the time, yes, I do make my synth sounds from scratch. Sometimes I use saws, triangles, FM, PWM, wavetables, it all depends on what I want. Although occasionally I'll pull up a preset and it will be what I wanted - maybe after a bit of tweaking. I do use presets a lot more on effects, like delay, reverb, etc.

How did you guys like Aquia? :P

aha! I try not to use too many samples. The only samples i really use are for cymbals and snares. I'm learning how to synthesize snares, and it sounds half decent. Especially for the hard dance genre i'm trying to mimic.

i never really understood FM synthesis. It definitely does create interesting sounds, but i just like to push knobs around (or sliders, as it is in SunVox) and see what happens. I'm not quite in-tune as to what each controller does, like i (sorta) am with normal synth type stuff.

The only thing i really want out of SunVox is the ability to manipulate pitch envelopes. I can't quite make a nice punchy kick without it, so i may have to resort to some samples, or just use my favorite built-in kick with the drumsynth.

oh! aquia was really cool, by the way. I wish i knew how to make those choir sounding synths.
