I thought that the wheel was for the noodle-armed people who couldn't lift? Or was that the pulley? Either way, it's not so much laziness (if you define it as not doing anything in general versus just not wanting to do something) as it is lack of capability… I think.

Ehh, people in general are lazy as is. It's easier to have people bargain stuff both ways and give each other stuff or donate things you don't need instead of going through the hassle of having to download certain apps or have a PC of some sort (and this is especially true for me) to download maps or whatever else to get something that you don't have.

There's always been greed and power-lust, it's human nature, it's not much different from people wanting everything at the click of a mouse or snap of a finger. Beside, if anything has multiplayer available and is a sandbox game, you're nearly guarenteed to have people doing this kinda of bargaining thing, unless you put a wrench in those peoples' plan yourself if you're a dev, but that's not really... a thing.

The way Deepworld's economy has remained stable is because everything has a known price.

There are scammers, but scamming is a bad choice for merchants.
Scamming = Reputation lowers
Lower Reputation = Less Trustable
Less Trustable = Less people buy from you
Less people buy from you = You need to do everything yourself

I may not be a merchant myself, but buying something is generally a hell of a lot easier than making it or finding it yourself.

But enough about Deepworld I guess.
