Junk Builder [World Editor]

PostThu Aug 30, 2012 1:31 am

As you know, I am the creator of the "Hotel of Itemness" map (which can be found in my signature) However, I put up a poll to ask people if I should try to make a world editor (As you can tell by the title :Prrr: )

So far, progress is going relatively well, and I'm working a lot on this project.

Right now, I only have one picture, but the program is more about the code then the graphics;

I will release it when I finish it, so, please be patient!

Thanks, Winter_Snake

Computer. I don't feel like making it an app. It would take so much longer.

I don't like the idea, it makes it too easy to get stuff... but guess Pixbits will tell you to stop if they don't want it... I'm not saying it's a bad idea though...

Thats why I'm still debating wether I'm going to release it to the public or to a certain group. But if you think about it, all this is, is hex editing the world.dat file. And kando is a master at that, so it's not like we haven't past this point. But I still am going to contact pixbits about it and see if they will want me to release it or not.

They'd go through the coding, see how it works, fix a few things up, then release it and give you credits for it, other wise it might be a bit of a problem... well that's what i'd do in their situation anyway...

Smart thing to do, but still, I'd like to take a peek if possible :)
PM me if you wouldnt mind sharing, I'd be more than happy to test for you.
Plus, although i cant create an editor from scratch, or anything from scratch, I can modify code once it exists, as well as add onto it.

Cheers!

So You would be able to import a world, right? If so, this makes my project much easier.

I don't see a load world button...
1. Junk-Jack-Wiki
2. The world is big, 256 blocks high and 768 across.
3. Who is John Galt?
4. Lack of objection does not indicate consent.
5. We scream, we shout, we wail, we cry; but in the end we all must die.

Ah true.

Then it's gonna be limited somehow.

@twelvefoot

Unless it somehow generates it's own worlds the same way as junk jack does, I don't see how it'll work without loading worlds

This is only the main menu. At the
Create World
screen, you will be given the option to save and load worlds to your computer to edit. And also export and import worlds from Junk Jack.
