Duplicating but not duplicating..

I was making my home, and place 2 blocks down by accident which made a solid block not a dark wall like wood does, anyway I broke it with my fist and it broke but then came back, broke it again came back.. It did this forever until I used my axe, but don't get me wrong it is an occasional bug... It comes and goes for me,

And I mean never has this happened to me over the (almost) year that I've had the game.

I wonder if you we're using your hand before we're you just continuously picking up and then placing the block over and over unitil you used an axe. If you didn't gain any wood from repeatedly breaking the blocks this is what happened.

Did you have the wood selected in your hotslot?
If so then you kept placing it, like Ben said.

Yep, thats whats happening.
He has none of the block that he is breaking, and he is breaking with his fist (most likely mashing). As soon as it breaks, it enters the empty hotspot that his fist is using, he places it and starts breaking it again.
