Really quick observation, I havent tested arrow or bow types, distance may have affected it as well..
It was also a mother dynaslime. I'll experiment.

Yes. I think that is something somebody else mentioned as a tip to prevent blowing up.

I'd say keep it. It's a nice alternative to damaging yourself.
