I raided in a few world ranked WoW guilds with a much older age group too, I was the young one (this was several years ago). So. I don't know any young gamers except my cousin's kids (both too young for school) that I'm trying to convert.

The good thing is you have lots of time to fix it! And if you like Junk Jack, the visual style of the older games probably won't be a problem. A Link to the Past is still one of my favorite games as far as art is concerned, just for the color scheme.

The more limited a game system is, the more amazing the results can be, since every choice has to be deliberate and meaningful and it really has to come down to awesome gameplay since you can't make up for shortcomings with intense cinematics etc. One of my game design classes started out just learning Atari (which was before my time, a bit) for that very reason.

Also, old DOS games are something you should try out, like everything Commander Keen. The bonus of these is that a lot are shareware or just not available to buy, so pirating isn't exactly an issue. Also, if you have an SNES around, those things could survive nuclear war, I think, and it probably still works. Mines still hooked up to my HDTV next to my Wii, haha.

Edit: creating a thread in the other games section to avoid derailing further! I think people who like Junk Jack would enjoy a lot of older games that might have been before their time.

I was just saying that I'm suprised people so young are able to register forum accounts.
I wasn't trying to be funny, just suprised at the age range of these forums, coming from reddit, my age is frowned upon. dick... :no:

Yeah, it might be more useful if the results were Below 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 , 16, 17, 18, 19-20, 21-25, 26- 30, 30-36, 36-45, 45+. Can you even have that many options in a poll?

I hate when people act like the teenage FPS player is the typical gamer.
I was raised by gamers. My grandmother died around 1990 while playing Gameboy, which she lived on. My grandfather has a wii that he still plays and has had every Nintendo system. I learned to read on SNES Zelda and when I was a toddler, I walked up to Mom in the middle of the night while she was playing NES Zelda and said "No more game, Mommy, no more game." She used to dream about bomb locations so much she couldn't remember which ones were real and I went to her when I couldn't beat a levdel. My aunts and uncles all play--family get-togethers used to involve lots of Dr. Mario matches and the Versus mode of Mario 3 on All Stars. And my dad plays games a generation behind so he can get them cheap, haha.

Anyway! The gamers that got Nintendo later in life when it was all new are my favorites. Gamers that grew up after SNES are strange to me.

I think it's more like that than not in a lot of families. Since the stats show women around 30 are the biggest gaming demographic. They just like social games and no one is marketing traditional mmo style games to them so they're stuck farming on Facebook. I find it weird how much those gamers are ignored. The social part of WoW was one of my favorite parts (and raid healing as a disc priest felt kind of like playing Guitar Hero or Rhythm Heaven, but with more strategy and way more intense!). And crafting and exploring, hence the interest in Junk Jack.

my parents would never play a video game and my grandparents are all dead so...yeah, my step- brother was probably the first one in our family to play a video game, then me and and then my little sister, and i could not imagine my step-sister playing a videogame

I play shooters like bf3 and those stuff like that but i mostly play rts,best games ever imo
