SOL? Can't continue in restored world.

PostThu Dec 01, 2016 6:58 pm

playing JJX, not updated to JJ, and plz don't suggest update because it ain't gonna happen for complicated reasons.

Had a crash and get asked if I want to restore the game. I say yes, and say yes to the warning, but I can't get into the world. It crashes when I tap continue and crashes when I try to run the world directly. I can run other worlds but this one won't go. SOL?

:sisi: Sounds like it.

I have no personal experience, but I think it's best to say no the first time it asks if you want to recover the world. Then if it won't open you can recover the second time.

You could try manually recovering it (iTunes file sharing, or iFunbox: Change world.bak to world.dat) but that's exactly what the game does to recover, so it shouldn't make a difference.

You could also possibly restore from an iTunes backup.

This isn't your daughter's recently rebuild world is it?

No, thanks for asking, I doubt I'd have eardrums left if that happened.

I actually did say no the first time btw.

The world it crashed in is Thetis. If I can't get back to Thetis, is there a way to continue with the same adventure but on earth?

Using iFunbox or iTunes file sharing. First make a backup copy of the Adventure1.dat* and Adventure1* folder in case anything goes wrong. Then go into the folder and rename terra.dat to thetis.dat and vice versa. Now when you hit continue the game will say "he was in Thetis last, so I'll load that", then pull up your Terra world. I cant remember about portals, I think they still work you just have to be careful you don't get stuck anywhere, since return portals will already be spawned and may not lead to the right places anymore.

Oooh, idea! If you want a working Thetis world in that adventure you could generate another adventure, then steal the Thetis from that.

Wow that's awesome advice I'll try that.

To get the other Thetis working I'd have to actually create a whole separate adventure and find Thetis in *that* adventure before transferring it, right?

But back to the main idea. So first I rename Terra to Thetis. On my Terra that becomes Thetis, there's a portal to Umbra. So from the Terra-now-Thetis I go to Umbra. Then I can switch Terra back to being named Terra, and the Umbra-to-Terra portal should now work correctly, right? Then the only thing I have to worry about is the Umbra-to-Thetis portal
But as long as I avoid that, all should be well?

*Probably*.

What you'll want to do is remove your thetis portal from your umbra, create a new adventure world, get to Umbra somehow from there, put your old thetis portals down from there, enter thetis, exit thetis, remove the thetis portals from Umbra, and then move that thetis into your normal adventure world.

Hmm... you might not even have to jump through those hoops. It's possible that you can just regenerate a thetis after you rename the renamed terra back to terra (leaving you without a Thetis). Not sure.
Thanks, Stuart98.

You're ahead of me on Thetis I think. I just wanted to be sure, first, that I had the steps right for getting Terra back to being named Terra.

If you get a "this portal leads nowhere" message try breaking the portal (just 1 block is fine) and replacing it.

I just tried. You can just generate another Thetis within the same adventure.
