Welcome to the forums, I guess this question means you don't have Junk Jack?

There was a demo version of the original Junk Jack (now Retro) years ago. One of the main things that made it a demo was that the world was tiny, nobody seemed to understand that. It got absolutely horrible reviews due to that, so Pixbits took it down after a month or so because it was reflecting badly upon the full game.

:dunno:
1. Junk-Jack-Wiki
2. The world is big, 256 blocks high and 768 across.
3. Who is John Galt?
4. Lack of objection does not indicate consent.
5. We scream, we shout, we wail, we cry; but in the end we all must die.

Well a demo would be REAL nice to Try Before You Buy

Now, yes, I could go buy it on steam, play it for 110 minutes and refund it if I don't like it

However, that presents the small problem of Steam being whiny bitches when you refund "too much" and "too often"

Whatever the hell the parameters for that are, nobody knows.

A good demo of the current junk jack is to limit the portals. Maybe only Terra is playable, or only the 2nd tier (Seth and Umbra) planets are accessible, the rest available by buying the full game.

It wasn't just the fact in the original version that the world being so tiny and limiting you to 1 world etc, it was that the demo gives you very little impression of what the game is actually like. The demo could be an honest demonstration but some people look at that and think what is the point of buying it to access a few more planets, or it could be restrict all content so people give it horrible reviews.

If you want to look at some gameplay of it, there are quite a few youtube channels out there who have done some Junk Jack Gameplays, LunchboxEmporium and myself included to name just 2, though we haven't posted any videos of the super recent updates to the game due to either getting bored, real life complications or whatever else, it will give you a decent idea what the game has to offer. With that said I feel we don't need a demo version.

That's nice.

Awful lively forum you got here.

Maybe stepping out of your echo chamber would improve that.

I agree with multi. The lite/ demo version of Junk Jack Retro has already been done before with very little positive results. There was only bad reviews by players who were complaining how the demo wasn't a full game, the worlds were small, and they wanted the game for free, etc.

Plus, I can assure you that insulting others because they don't agree with you isn't going to improve anything here. So play nice, please.

That's nice and all, but you're still not the devs and you still have no say.

Did we ever say "this is definitely not going to happen"? No we didn't. We said "this is what happened before"

We may not be developers and we don't really have a say, but we're moderators and old forum users, we've seen Junk Jack go through quite a few changes and we remember a lot of what the developers have said in relation to certain things. We can only give you the facts. I don't have the time right now to search for the post where Jack (Or was it XsX..? ) explained their reasoning for pulling down the old demo version, but someone else might be able to, depending on the section it was in.

I don't have time for a comprehensive search, but I found this.
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3950&p=47284#p47284
1. Junk-Jack-Wiki
2. The world is big, 256 blocks high and 768 across.

So the quick and dirty is

The devs didn't put much thought into a demo and thus the demo was shit
And thru the crappy demo the game was poorly recieved

slow clap

Well it just so happens other people coughminecraftcough

Have made the perfect demo for games that are similar

MINECRAFT FOR PC/MAC

You can play the demo mode of Minecraft for PC and Mac by registering for a Mojang account and then downloading the Minecraft launcher.

This version of the game lasts five in-game days, or about 100 minutes.

Playing the demo mode is also useful for seeing if your computer can run Minecraft before you decide to buy it.

So all we need now is the devs to make a better demo.

Why are you so persistant in wanting a junk jack demo anyways?

Because dealing with TPB and torrents is annoying.

But you know what, fine.

Screw it.

I'll go update μTorrent, which I haven't used in fuck-knows-how-long and I'll hit up TPB

So youre throwing some temper acting like this because you want a free game. Legit.

The fact that youre pushing this idea not because its for the good of the game but because of your own selfish reasons says so much.
Well im done here. Its already proven that a demo wouldnt be a good idea anyways. But as you said, this decision is ultimately up to the devs of this game.
