Different Controls

PostSat Aug 31, 2013 12:30 pm

I like the current controls but i still perfer a D-Pad control.... Maybe d-pad for moving and jump and attack button at the right and above the jump and attack button theres an invisible joystick that controls the crosshair so we can aim?

Also we should be able to swim diagonally and move while jumping.... I dont see why we cant....

This was suggested when the first Junk Jack came out, and they never added it in. If you've ever played Crafted (A 2D minecraft port that was taken off the appstore) they had an odd control scheme, part buttons and part touch. I think that the D-Pad is great, for some games. Jumping and moving is kinda pointless, I know it would probably help against mobs and such but the game is great without it, and as you further talk about the other joystick, I can only think of a cluttered mess of a control scheme people will remember as Junk Jack. They made the game for the touch screen and it runs smoothly, and the controls are great, adding controls may be hurtful, or just look plain ugly.

TLDR: I'm all for new controls, but I think a D-Pad + a joypad would clutter the already small screen (Unless you're on iPad) and might be huge eye sores depending on how they look if added.

DPad/joystick isn't meant for touch.

D-Pad's are best suited to gamepads, not touch-screens.

I always find virtual joysticks kind of a pain on touchscreen.
They're alright on iPad, but pretty terrible on iPod or iPhone, since they take up half of the screen.

It's a good thing deepworld has a transparency option for them. Otherwise i wouldn't see a thing. But knowing how ugly it is on an iPod right now, that might not be such a bad thing... :/

Its ridiculous how people complain in the reviews that JJX doesnt have D-Pads. They say their fingers fill up the whole screen with the current controls although D-Pads even increase this "issue". I dont understand them...

The controls are the best as they are. D-pad feels kinda flimsy on a touch screen. The controls on Junk Jack are much more smooth and easier than on Terraria for example.

:sisi: I've played Terraria some recently. One of my biggest annoyances is the virtual joysticks.

:sisi: As well as that, the people who make videos of games with joysticks, absolute hate them, and when watching back on the video, it seems so odd to see the controls moving by themselves. The current control scheme is fine, and WAY less cluttered.
Also, adding joysticks would mean they'd have to re-design the entire game around them, and as easy as some people think that is, it's not.

I know. I hate that they move.

Deepworld has joysticks.
They did a much better job of implementing them. There are about 5 different options for them.
They're good in that, but that's partly because guns are a fair portion of the gameplay, and joysticks do work with guns.
I still prefer JJ's controls though.

Most likely. But idk, I haven't played Deepworld in at least 2 months and have only checked the forums to see if I've gotten any messages.
