Why doesn't breaking beds remove the spawn point?

PostSun Sep 08, 2013 5:19 pm

I get that it's easier this way, but it doesn't really make sense in terms of the item itself (a bed) suddenly being made into some kind of a magical object. Surely the idea behind spawning at a bed is that you've woken up, having presumably been injured and rested your way back to health? Without it there, what's resurrecting you? There's no clear indication of where your spawn point is any more, which can make things confusing both in single player and when playing with friends, although I realise beds don't currently work in MP.

With Minecraft, the idea is usually that you either craft a new bed and allow switching between multiple spawn points, or take the risk of dismantling your bed and moving it, with potentially disastrous results. The way it's implemented in JJX right now feels like too much of a cheat.

In junk jack when the bed was broken the entire bed was dismantled into resources. This kept you from reusing it without a work bench making it more difficult to cheat. It was changed in Junk Jack X though.

:sisi: Maybe if bed is broken it spawns you to the last known placed bed instead of spawning you to a removed bed.
