I think this, or at least something similar, should be added since mobs shoot projectiles straight, rather than throw them. Maybe it can use arrows, just like bows, except it shoots them on a straight path. Or the crossbow's range could be 15-30 blocks to prevent the projectile(s) from looping around the world, especially since it could be abused as a mob trap by just spamming the projectiles and waiting for them to loop until they hit something…or maybe there could be "decay time" in which the projectile despawns after a period of time.
Well, that's my idea, anyway.
Someone has sumstuff somewhere and stuffs it in stuff with something…

Demon Gators, Skeleton Knights, and (maybe, because of their drops) Exotis Knights/Slashers as far as I can remember.

You can check the Wiki's Category:Mobs page to see an organized list of all current mobs.

Because of the better range over bows they might have to have slower fire speed so the mobs would have a chance at getting to you. Also because it has further range/power it could do slightly more damage. Furthermore maybe the further it flies the less damage dealt.
