Larger FOV Setting

PostSun Dec 04, 2016 9:29 pm

I like the current Field of View, but at the same time I think I would prefer it to be bigger. I play on an iPod 5 and it feels a little too zoomed in. My suggestion would be to add an optional setting where we can toggle the FOV size. 'Larger Field of View' in the GFX section or something.

The size I would like is the middle zoom, the one where you press the zoom out once. And before you say this would make it too small to tap, I was testing it out and I found it relatively easy to tap specific blocks while zoomed out. Yes, some people will not like this FOV size, but that is why it's optional.

I feel like this could make it a lot easier to use ranged weapons, use long range tools, for building and mining, and would allow me to actually walk around my structures while looking at them, instead of walking five steps- zooming out - walking five steps - zooming out - you get the picture.

Thoughts?

I responded to your comment in another post like this but I want to boost this idea because I'd like to see a feature like this implemented.
(EDIT) and being able to see more means that we can make proper use of tools that have increased block range. It's not much use to us at the moment if we can only see as far as x amount of blocks.

Someone replies! Hoorah!

Anyho, I'd kill for this to be added. It would no doubt rekindle my interest in this game.

I agree. Maybe you could change a slider and have the screen FOV scale? Instead of fixed sizes that you alternate, hopefully it could change on a scale.

Variable wouldn't work great with pixel textures.

Ironically, the latest update added this very feature haha. Only thing is, I tested out on my iPhone and the zoom levels were either too far away or too close. Never mind though.

I suppose so. I was thinking more along the lines of the slider going in steps of 1 block, but even then with the retro nature of the graphics, it would probably look pretty weird in some slider settings.
