HOW AUCTIONS WORK

PostMon Sep 23, 2013 1:31 am

Since a few people here can't grasp the concept of an auction, I will explain it for you.

TIME
When you start an auction, you have to give it an end date. This date does not change. No ending the auction early, no making it last longer to milk offers.

LEADER
All players must be aware of who the current leader in the auction is so they know how high to bid. If you're going to hold an auction, you need to be able to update the leader accordingly.

OPENING BIDS
An auction is an auction, and if you start one, you're obligated to keep your word. If you start an auction for a rare item, and only one person bids, that person wins regardless of your liking their bid. If you can't man-up to this, don't start an auction. If you have a certain specification for an opening bid, it must be stated in the original post upon creation.

BIDDERS
If you make an offer, you should stick to it. Bidders ARE allowed to withdraw from the auction, but they can't reduce an offer amount for any reason. If someone withdraws from the auction, the previous leader takes the lead again. Once again, if the previous leader in this situation is in the lead during the auction ending, you are obligated to provide them with their item regardless of how you feel about someone withdrawing from the auction.

If you can't follow these rules, or see someone who isn't following them, don't start an auction/get involved with one. Because it really isn't an auction unless they follow the rules. Simple.

Ps3 - There's no need to call anyone out. If you dislike the way someone does things, don't get involved, please do not start an argument.

Anyways I think this should get a sticky in the market to keep the auctions fair… so there's no unfair auctions and stuff

It's up to the moderators to sticky it.

Moderators cannot actually sticky topics, it is up to the admins to but we could probably try to persuade either Jack or XsX to sticky topics.

I do think there should be a quite detailed guide for this forum, on how to trade and such :)

Ah, apologies, I wasn't aware of that. If the administrators feel it needs a sticky, I suppose they'll make it so.

Hmm, this is an odd place for you to popup…

And there is a loophole that allows us to sticky things. We still aren't supposed to, but this does deserve it, and I'm feeling reckless…

+1 :P
And yeah, that's how there are a bunch of newly stickied topics in the JJX sub-forum.
