FORCE Newbies to read all of the craftbook

PostMon Feb 25, 2013 3:23 am

There should be some way to force people to read the tutorial craftbook pages instead of assuming that they know everything and then coming onto the forums and complaining about "bugs" involving crafting doors and stuff.
Thanks, Stuart98.

Well. You COULD kindly refer the newer players to the beginning of the craft book, but doing anything without violence, force, and bans just isn't in your nature, I guess.

Wow, p1nk, wow. :nono:

Newbies are already told to read the craftbook when they start. It clearly isn't enough. There needs to be some way to force them to read every single page when they start.
Thanks, Stuart98.

Well I think what I'm saying, though slightly exaggerated, is for the most part, true.

Just let the people play how they want to play. Let them risk getting a scolding from the forum police (Stuart).

If they report something that's not a bug, then kindly let them know. Give them advice.

And explicitly naming the mistakes people have made is not very welcoming. If I were them, and I had my mistake plastered in front of everyone condescendingly, I wouldn't really want to remain here where I'm not welcome.

No names were mentioned. No one should be driven away.
Thanks, Stuart98.

:face palm: do you not understand? Do you not have any concept of empathy or understanding?

It would be sympathy, actually.
And I would hope that we all do.

I do... but the amount lowers when the mistake was made because people didn't follow instructions pointed out to them clearly.
Thanks, Stuart98.

Sympathy for what they've done wrong, empathy for how Stuart is making them feel.

If someones loses their mom, and you have to, then you can be empathetic.
But if you don't know what it's like to lose your mom, you can only be sympathetic.
That's how I understand it.

I always thought that being sympathetic is feeling sorry for somebody.

Empathetic is putting yourself in that persons shoes.

Exactly.
And I was saying that unless Stuart has made the mistake of not reading the Craftbook, and then making a fool of himself asking a silly question about crafting doors on the Forum, then he can only feel sympathetic.

You don't have to have been through the same struggle as somebody to put yourself in their shoes... I can do that easily, and I'm especially prone to almost feeling pain just through imagination. It's quite awful.
