--Junk Jack Beginners Guide--

PostMon Nov 07, 2011 11:00 pm

I just wanted to make a begginers guide here for all the new junk jackers coming with the release of this game
Add more info below (and maybe get a sticky pixbits?;))

And thank you App Spy for having this guide linked in your video ;) and to everyone who has spread the guide to beginners, so glad I could help :)

OFFICIAL WIKI HERE: http://wiki.pixbits.com

and if you could please check out this video I made :) --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cU4WvsRu ... e=youtu.be

BEGINNERS GUIDE TO JUNK JACK

To craft you open up your inventory and there should be a 3x3 box on the right side of the inventory this is the crafting box
You can split a stack of say wood by double clicking it
Then when you are ready press the crafting button beneath the crafting box, some items may require you to be standing near a crafting addon, such as an anvil used for making metal tools

First of you will want to punch some trees to death and make a picaxe
After make some Woodern planks from the wood from the tree
W wood
_ nothing
[_] [_] [_]
[_] [W] [_]
[_] [_] [_]
Wood can be anywhere in crafting slot
I will refer to woodern planks as just planks from now on

picaxe crafting
[S] [S] [_]
[S] [P] [_]
[_] [_] [P]
Where
S = wood
P = wood plank
_ = nothing

After getting a good haul of stone (maybe some coal too)
Make an axe (probably for getting more wood) and a new picaxe
You will also want to make a swords
S=stone
P=plank
_= nothing

Axe
[S] [_] [_]
[S] [P] [_]
[_] [_] [P]

And sword
[S] [_] [_]
[_] [S] [_]
[_] [_] [P]

And if you wanted to do some diggy diggy hope action
Shovel
[S] [_] [_]
[_] [P] [_]
[_] [_] [P]

Chop some more wood (since player inventory travels amongst worlds you could make a new world just for tree chopping)

When digging you will occasionally find papers, these are called craft-notes.
They contain recipes used to craft items. You don't need the recipe to craft the item, you just need to know how.
To put a craft-note in your craft-book, open your inventory then touch and hold on the craft-note for a second.
It will be stored in your book, which acts as a little collection tutorial / craft book
(collecting all the pages will really help)

You will probably want to think of making a place of residence now (ie house :L)
Your first house shouldnt be too fancy just out of dirt or random blocks and will be designed to last you your first night

On your first night I would advise just making a mine like tunnel down like steps
____[ ]
__[ ][ ]
[ ][ ][ ]

This should get you enough stone, ores and coal or everything

Your next step (after making a nicer house) will e to start making furniture and crafting adding

Make a Woodern work bench by first making a hammer out of wood
(hammers are used for removing furniture, doors, ladders, etc etc

W wood
P plank
_ nothing

[_] [W] [_]
[W] [P] [_]
[_] [_] [P]

Then make the bench like this
W wood
P plank
H hammer
[_] [_] [_]
[P] [H] [P]
[W] [W] [W]
To use a work bench you just have to stand near it, when you do so a little box will appear next to your 3x3 crafting grid, in the shape of a hammer

Torches are also a must have as stops monstors spawning!
C coal
P plank
_ nothing
[_] [_] [_]
[_] [C] [_]
[_] [_] [P]

After making a work bench a nice looking furnace will be on your mind (keep house warm and for making better tools and widgets)
S stone
T torch
_ nothing
[S] [S] [S]
[S] [T] [S]
[S] [S] [S]
Furnaces have to be crafted while standing next to a work bench

You also need tobe standing near a work bench to make a spinning wheel as loom
You must craft a spinning wheel first
N nail (you should find tons from crates)
P wood plank
W wood
_ nothing
[_] [P] [_]
[P] [N] [P]
[W] [P] [W]

Then to make a loom you must get some raw wool from sheep
Then go to your spinning wheel and put the raw wool in your crafting table like so
W raw wool
_ nothing
[_] [_] [_]
[_] [W] [_]
[_] [_] [_]

Then you will get some white yarn to make a loom with (you only need two)
Y white yarn
P Woodern plank
W wood
_ nothing
[P] [Y] [P]
[P] [Y] [P]
[W] [W] [W]

Then you can finally make a bed
First you need place the loom down near a spinning wheel (just for ease of acess)
And make some more white yarn to turn into
White cloth
Y yarn
[_] [_] [_]
[_] [Y] [_]
[_] [_] [_]
The yarn can be anywhere in crafting grid

White cloth can be placed or even dyed green with slime (from slimes)

To make a bed stand next to the work bench
C white cloth
W wood
P plank
_ nothing
[_] [_] [_]
[C] [C] [C]
[P] [W] [P]
Then place that down and click it to change your spawn

You will also want a door and a chest (to store treasure in)
First you will need something called a widget
Widgets are made with iron ingots and copper ingots
Ingot crafting (by furnace)
L ore lump
C coal
_ nothing
[_] [_] [_]
[_] [L] [L]
[_] [_] [c]
The lumps and coal can be anywhere as long as there is two lumps and one coal next to a furnace
When you craft a iron and copper ingot make a widget
Widget
I iron ingot
C copper ingot
_ nothing
[_] [_] [_]
[_] [_] [I]
[_] [C] [_]

Then with widget
Chest
P wood
W widget
_ nothing

[_] [_] [_]
[P] [W] [P]
[P] [P] [P]

And door
P plank
W widget
_ nothing
[P] [P] [_]
[P] [W] [_]
[P] [P] [_]

You will also need to make an anvil to craft metal tools (iron silver gold Mithril)
To make an anvil
I iron ingot
S stone
_ nothing
[_] [_] [_]
[I] [I] [I]
[_] [S] [_]
Then when you stand next to one you will be able to make a metal tool (advised to have furnace and anvil close to each other)

As you go you will find many crates containing items for crafting and building
Vases - contain treasure but, be warned may spawn spiders upon breaking
Chest- use hammer to break them (contains items varying on what kind of chest) better the chest better the items
To break a chest you need to have a hammer
different hammers break different chests
So a gold one is a very good chest (will give you some good tools and treasures apon breaking)
You need to use (I think) a silver hammer on one, if not then a gold one should do it

Strength of tools on material weakest->strongest
Wood
Stone
Copper
Iron
Silver
Gold
Mithril

There is a discard button, I think below the crafting grid and you have to drag items there to discard

Those are pretty much the basics
You will learn more as you play and discover new notes and recipes

This guide is so helpful! Thank you!

I just downloaded the game an hour ago and I was getting so frustrated with the game... I was really disappointed with the lack of in-game instructions/help. I really shouldn't have to hop online to get help like this.

How do I break boulders? They look like rocks except lighter grey and roundish. It's in the way of construction and my stone pick wont break it! (also how do you make an iron pick? I tried making it the same way as the others except with iron but it won't work!)

You cannot break boulders (to my understanding) and will have to dig around it (sorry)
I completely forgot about an anvil

To craft iron pic it's the same recipe as the woodern one with iron but it has to be done while standing near an anvil
Anvil crafting
I iron ingot
S stone
_ nothing

I don't know how I would've figured out any of this stuff without your guide.I couldn't figure out how to craft anything aside from torches and wooden planks.

I'm so glad you made this post, thanks again!

Someone should make a Wiki for Junk Jack so its easily accessible with pictures and stuff, like minecraft's wiki.
