Holiday Home

PostMon Dec 24, 2012 7:11 pm

I guess this is sort of my present to the Junk Jack community, before the Christmas stuff gets outdated :shy:
Welp, I haven't been on in a while but here's my most recent home world. I've gotten sort of bored of finding a flat plain and building a house up from that on simple dirt, so I made a home that's more part of the landscape (sort of). This house features two entryways, a kitchen, den, living room, storage area, loft bedroom, balcony, hallway, garden, hops farm, and craft area. It's fully decked out for the holidays and has chests with all my belongings (duping and stealing take the fun out of the game, but I feel like it would be too difficult to take out all the chests). If you're planning on playing this house on non-peaceful, mobs will spawn by the clock in the chest room and replacing the doors would be a good idea (there are some reinforced doors in the gold chest in the bedroom). Enjoy! :byebye: Merry Christmas all!

Nice house. I like how you used the stair blocks to make it look realistic even though they sit in the background and have no effect.

merry christmas and very impressive you you've got there. a couple suggestions though. i'd change the half block under the pot to a wood half block to blend better with the stair block and make it look like it fits in more. i'd change the type of blocks in the bedroom where the christmas lights are on because it doesn't blend well, maybe roof blocks would work well or other. i would put wood half blocks under the stairs that don't have wood blocks under them. i'd upgrade the chests to a higher level material such as gold, mitril, or anatium and only keep the chests in a U shape. and these are just suggestions feel free to use them or not to, if you do use them i'd love to see an updated version or if you end up changing anything.

BTW: i love the way you used natural, or not so natural landscape to cover your home and the way you made the garden blocked off from the left side of the world. the house is very unique and creative. one of the best i've seen.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I really appreciate the feedback :D I'm really considering changing the block under the second set of stairs because it looks a little odd. As far as chests go, I thought a lot about what chests I would use and I was happy with the way Christmas chests blended in with my house yet have the same capacity as gold chests. For a while I had a chest room and no chests anywhere else, but I also liked the idea of blending storage into my home. Thanks again so much for your suggestions! :)
