Building tutorials

PostFri Dec 28, 2012 12:48 am

I like building things for people, so I've decided to run a service. If you need any help, I'll try to build what you want in super easy color-coded guides.

Have fun.

Ive always gone towards small, shack-like houses. Mainly because my bigger ones look like crap. Help?

Can you build me a treasure room (room to display all the treasures one might find, which include treasures you find randomly when digging, paintings, statues, fossils, and anything else considered valuable yet useless). It must be nine blocks wide on the interior and two/three blocks high on the interior. It must be underground and so leave out windows am give it it's own light source.
Thanks. :)

I said I'd give a tutorial, not build an actual building for you to download. :asd:

Blue, I'll upload the picture and everything when I get time. Probably in the next couple days cause I have to go back home tomorrow and I'll be in the car for 8 hours and I have to go I bed right now.

As long as it shows me how to make an awesome treasure room that looks good and has an adequate amount of space for different kinds of treasures I'm good. :)

Ok. The only problem is that you may not be able to replicate the treasures exactly. But I'll give you plenty of storage space.

For my son:

The first thing I like to do is flatten out a nice big area and lay down the walls (in red)

Then, I like to build arches (in green). These arches help me find the center of the building. I lay one arch at one end, lay another at the opposite end. Then, I figure tally figure out the middle from there, and place an arch, (or more if necessary) to get the middle. Once I find the middle, I place a different type f block to back the ladder to reach the next floor...

A good rule of thumb is: 3 is a good number when things are in 3s, there's usually a center point that your eye likes to go to. That's why I have the center of the arches 3 blocks wide.

So once you have the bottom floor built, build the next floor the same, except mirror the arches... If you like.

Color key.

Red:walls/floors
Orange: background wall
Green: arches (a different material from the walls and the floor
Yellow: ladder background. Can be the same material as the arches or not but make it different than the walls and bg
Cyan: the length of the base.

So after the building is finished i should remove the arches or no? Also can it be more than two stories?

Keep the arches as decoration, that's what I do.
Just repeat the process for every story, or change it up so each floor is slightly different

I've been thinking about this for awhile now.

I guess I can just build houses for you lazy people. I can just build you a house or creation in a new world, or you can give me your old house, and I'll make it "better." if you'd rather not have me do a whole tutorial, that's what I can do.

I'll just change the name (maybe) to p1nky's contracting and take on almost any project.

I do like taking old houses, and making them new.

Also, if you do give me your world, save a copy for yourself do nothing gets lost. I'll go out of my way to safely store every item or treasure in the house in a special chest. I can also store any blocks that make up the buildings if you like.
