the way i mine is i find an ore, dig towards it, mine it, find a point of interest, dig towards it, etc. until i die or my inventory fills up

Yup same here. Except, when my inventory gets filled up I go back to my legit world and dump everything except tools and blocks, then I continue to mine But I might try pinks way of mining as I'm trying to find some statues.. I haven't found any yet

Ours both get all the resources in an area.

P1nk's, targets the bottom of the map, so you find more silver/gold/mithril. And you're less likely to fall to your death with horizontal tunnels. But he uses torches.

My way, you're getting everything from the entire map. Not using torches. But use some beds, and could fall to your death along the way.
