Blocks which won't explode?

PostTue Dec 27, 2016 4:19 pm

I couldn't find this on the wiki.
I saw the explosives page which details the explosive damage, but couldn't find a page which lists the strength of each block, eg Stone Compact.
Does anyone have a list of block strengths? Which is the strongest? I want to stop those Skexotons from blowing up lava!
I was fishing just now, and one blew me up, all my equipment was lost in the lava!

Metal blocks (at least the higher levels). And I think boulders are still blast proof?

"Thick stone" is also a good barrier for explosion. But be careful, mobs can spawn on natural stones so if you use this make sure you flooring is a crafted block of some kind. Wood block, brick, etc. You should be safe.

So I spent hundreds of hours farming dozens of different types of blocks, only to find out that they aren't practical to make a house out of?! Lol

Mobs still won't spawn if the light Level is >= 7, right? Regardless of block type.

:sisi: Correct, level 7 lighting will help keep most mobs from spawning. But mobs particularly small slimes or spiders sometimes find a way if the lighting isn't perfectly 7 all the way. Small houses work fine. Large mansions are a little bit harder to light. Mobs might spawn on top of a natural block if not careful. So just putting any crafted block, wood, stone, brick, etc. as a floor would insure you they won't.

What exactly is a level 7 lighting ? And also would this stop small mobs like snakes, rats and so on from spawning on a underground house ?

It's just a term I made up. Level 7 lighting = a Lighting level that is at 7.
The light level should not go below 7 or enemy mobs might spawn on top of that block.
A torch ever 4 or 5 blocks should keep most enemy mobs from spawning on natural blocks, basically.
I'm just saying be careful.

This seem to work well with enemy mobs, my issue is with underground building with the peaceful mobs like Rats,Snakes,Small spider, etc...

Well the image show the underground room that I'm having the issue with as you can it have a whole bunch of lights and still getting peaceful mobs spawning :/.

Yes it would seem that peaceful mobs don't obey the same lighting rules. They are more for decorative purposes.
